PRINCIPAL’S REPORT JUNE 20
As this is my first news item since commencing as Principal of Mindarie Primary in January of this year I make the following, extremely genuine observation that this is truly a very unique school to work in. The behaviour of the students is to be commended. They consistently demonstrate manners and consideration of others; holding doors open for each other and adults, politely greeting each other, inquiring after each other’s wellbeing and so forth. It makes coming to work each day a pleasure as we are blessed to be in such company.
The staff are extremely dedicated. We have a beautiful environment to work in, cared for by all. Our cleaners work tirelessly and often in their own time to make sure the environment is clean, safe and welcoming. Our gardener is always willing to apply himself to any task, the Administration team members are welcoming and positive and the staff working directly with our children are amazing.
The enthusiasm of our parent body, whether it be the P&C, the School Board or parents in classrooms is amazing. Tuesday mornings in the staff room are always very busy, with P&C helpers preparing for special days and events. Our School Board truly reflects the diversity of our school community and is very dedicated in its endeavours to ensure that our school continues to be a school of excellence. Yesterday evening several members of our School Board; Mel Cook, Kath Gilbert, Alex Hodgson and Dawn Bartholomeusz freely gave up three hours of their time to attend school board training at Roseworth Primary in Girrawheen. The purpose of this training was to highlight the important role the board plays in the operation of an Independent Public School. In addition it also provided further information regarding the autonomy that we have as an IPS school, something I am sure we will be further exploring at the next board meeting.
Documents that we have recently uploaded to our website are our annual school report for the 2013 school year and the recently completed Independent Public School Review carried out by the Department of Education Services. I would urge parents to read both documents as they capture very important aspects of our school. In particular the IPS Review is a document to be celebrated as it was written by external reviewers who based their findings on a raft of information presented by parents, students and staff at the school.
