Bicycles

Children who ride bicycles and scooter to school are reminded to always wear a helmet and observe safety riding rules. The P & C and school fully support the Police Service of WA recommendation that children under the age of 10 years should not ride bicycles or scooters to school unless accompanied by an adult. By law, children are to wear bicycle helmets. The school does not encourage the use of roller blades and roller skates as a means of going to and from school.

All bikes and scooters should be locked securely in the racks provided. Bicycles and scooters must be wheeled into and out of the school grounds.

Buddy Classes

The school fully supports the implementation of buddy classes. Buddy classes involve the older children working with the younger children on a peer-mentoring program. The buddy class programe gives the older children the opportunity to develop a range of qualities including leadership, responsibility, social skills and teaching techniques.

The programe helps develop a sense of community at the school and creates role models for our younger children.

Children Transferring to Other Schools

When children are about to leave our school or transfer to another school, parents are asked to contact the school office at least a week or more beforehand, if at all possible.

This will provide adequate time to enable the staff to ensure that all records, books, medical cards, reports, etc have been completed or checked prior to the child’s departure.

It also allows us to farewell our students and wish them all the best in their new school.

Children’s Property

Valuables and toys are not permitted at school and no responsibility is accepted for loss or damage to students’ personal property.

If a personal item is brought in for news, teachers on request, may place it in a safe place for the day.

Please also ensure that all property such as hats, books, pencils, rulers etc are clearly named so that lost or mislaid items can be returned to their rightful owners.

Collecting Students During School Hours

To guarantee the safety and well-being of our students, all parents collecting students from school during school hours are required to notify administration and to sign the children out of the school.

Parents will then be given a note so teachers will be aware that the appropriate paper work has been completed and authority from the office has been given for the child to leave the school premises.
